About Us

A Mission of Hope

Restoring Lives Through Faith

Guardians Grace exists to enable individuals to experience the healing that is promised in Psalm 71:20 "Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up."

We recognize the importance of faith support to aid in recovery. All of our ordained chaplains are either in recovery or have an extensive background in recovery support.

Our founder, Richard Singletary, was appalled by the rate of veteran suicide and decided to do something about it. After researching, he discovered the clinical linkage between suicide and alcohol/substance abuse and/or trauma. Most recovery options do not provide for constitutionally protected religious observance even though most will acknowledge that recovery is in fact a spiritual process. Guardians Grace exists to close this gap and help improve the lives of veterans and others recovering from these tragic circumstances.

Our Founder

Richard Singletary, Chaplain

Richard served nine years in the US Navy Submarine force as a nuclear chemist aboard the USS Pheonix (SSN-702), USS Orion (AS-18), and the USS Pennsylvania Blue Crew (SSBN-735). After leaving military service, he achieved corporate success in the technology project management area serving primarily large hospital systems for over twenty years. Along the way, he earned a bachelors degree in Psychology, and two MBAs (Global Technology Management and Healthcare Management), as well as multiple professional certifications..

Through a series of personal battles, he succumbed to alcohol addiction. It destroyed his marriage, relationship with his children and family, career, and eventually led him to homelessness. In a final grasp to stay alive, he entered an extended treatment program which saved his life and reconnected him to God and his family.

That put him on a path to help other vets get out of that vicious cycle. He enrolled in Liberty University's seminary program to obtain his masters degree in Divinity. He was ordained as a Chaplain in 2023 and is affiliated with the National Association of Christian Chaplains. He founded Guardians Grace Ministries in 2024 and currently serves as Chairman of the Board. He has five adult children two of which were adopted from China.
